How to Get Licensed in Texas

Complete the 180 hours of TREC-approved Sales Agent qualifying education (six 30-hour courses).

Pass each end-of-course final exam to receive your course completion certificates.

Submit your Sales Agent license application to TREC and pay the application fee.

Get fingerprinted through IdentoGO and pass the TREC/FBI background check.
- 5
Receive your eligibility, then pass the Texas salesperson exam administered by Pearson VUE.
- 6
Be sponsored by an active Texas broker to activate your license.

After You Pass: Keeping Your License
First renewal, post-licensing, and continuing education
Sales agents must complete 90 hours of Sales Apprentice Education (SAE) before the first renewal (within the first two years). After that, 18 hours of continuing education are required every two years, including TREC Legal Update I and II.
