How to Get Licensed in Virginia

Complete the 60-hour DPOR-approved salesperson pre-license course (Principles of Real Estate).

Pass the Virginia salesperson licensing exam administered by PSI (state and national portions).

Complete fingerprinting through a PSI test center or a DPOR-approved vendor.

Submit your salesperson license application to DPOR with the application fee.

Activate your license under a Virginia broker.

After You Pass: Keeping Your License
First renewal, post-licensing, and continuing education
New Virginia salespersons must complete 30 hours of post-license education during the first license term (within one year of licensure). Licenses renew every 2 years with 16 hours of continuing education thereafter.
