Steps to Become a Broker in New Jersey

Meet the experience requirement
At least 3 years of full-time experience as a licensed salesperson within the prior 5 years.

Complete broker pre-license education
Complete the required 150 hours of broker pre-license education from an approved school.

Pass the broker licensing exam
Pass the New Jersey broker licensing exam, administered by PSI.

Submit your broker application
Apply through the NJREC, pay the required fees, and complete any background or fingerprinting steps. Maintain broker-level continuing education going forward.
