How to Get Licensed in New Jersey

Complete the 75-hour NJREC-approved salesperson pre-license course and pass the school final exam.

Find a sponsoring New Jersey managing broker (a salesperson cannot hold a license independently).

Pass the New Jersey salesperson licensing exam administered by PSI (110 questions, 70% to pass).
- 4
Complete fingerprinting and the criminal-history background check through IdentoGO.
- 5
Have your broker submit your salesperson application through the NJREC Online Licensing Services portal with the application fee.
- 6
Receive your license linked to your sponsoring broker.

After You Pass: Keeping Your License
First renewal, post-licensing, and continuing education
New Jersey salesperson licenses renew every two years by June 30 with 12 hours of approved continuing education (including required ethics and fair-housing topics); CE must be completed by April 30 to avoid late fees. New Jersey does not require a separate post-license course.
