How to Get Licensed in Massachusetts

Complete the 40-hour MA Board-approved salesperson pre-license course (at least 21 hours must be live online instruction) and pass the course final to receive your Educational Certificate.

Submit your application through the eLIPSE portal with the $31 application fee, three candidate endorsements, and a notarized CORI background-check form.

After Board clearance, schedule and pass the Massachusetts salesperson exam administered by PSI (120 questions, 70% on each section).
- 4
Pay the license fee and, if you tested remotely, visit a PSI center for your license photo.
- 5
Activate your license under a Massachusetts broker.

After You Pass: Keeping Your License
First renewal, post-licensing, and continuing education
Massachusetts salesperson licenses renew every two years on the licensee’s birthday for $103 and require 12 hours of approved continuing education. Massachusetts does not require a separate post-license course.
