How to Get Licensed in Colorado

Complete 168 hours of Colorado-approved qualifying education (Colorado is a broker-only state — there is no separate salesperson license).

Pass your end-of-course exams to receive completion certificates.
- 3
Pass the Colorado broker licensing exam administered by PSI.
- 4
Submit fingerprints to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for the background check.
- 5
Obtain Errors & Omissions (E&O) insurance as required by the Division.
- 6
Submit your broker license application to the Colorado Division of Real Estate.

First renewal, post-licensing, and continuing education
Colorado broker licenses renew on a 3-year cycle requiring 24 hours of continuing education, including the Annual Commission Update course each year. New brokers should confirm first-cycle requirements with the Division.
