How to Pass the Idaho Real Estate Exam in 2026

The Idaho real estate salesperson exam is administered by Pearson VUE and regulated by the Idaho Real Estate Commission through the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL).

Step 1: Complete the 90-Hour Pre-License Requirement

Idaho requires 90 hours of IREC-approved pre-license education:

Step 2: Complete Fingerprint and Background Approval

If you pass one section and fail the other, retake the failed section within one year. Retakes are unlimited, require a 24-hour wait before reserving, and carry the full examination fee for each attempt.

Step 4: Master the Official Content Areas

Use the current Pearson VUE and DOPL outlines for the General portion, including property ownership and land use controls, transfer of title, valuation and appraisal, financing and settlement, agency and fiduciary duties, contracts, fair housing, and real estate math.

Use the Idaho outline for license law, property-condition disclosure, agency and disclosure, Idaho water rights, trust-account regulations, and subdivision regulations.

Step 5: Build Your Study Plan

Divide study time between the General and Idaho outlines. Use practice questions to identify weak areas, review missed answers, and practice the calculations covered by the current outline.

Step 6: Exam Day Preparation

Schedule through the current Pearson VUE Idaho real estate page and use Pearson VUE's current location search rather than relying on a static list of Idaho centers.

Bring two required IDs. Pearson VUE supplies the permitted note and calculation materials and provides an online calculator; personal calculators and personal scratch or reference materials are not permitted. The examination clock continues during breaks. A score report is available immediately after the examination.

After passing and receiving fingerprint approval, submit the license application through the current DOPL process and follow the sponsoring-broker requirements.
